Where are you located?

I have a fully virtual office as of October 1, 2022. Each client will get an individual Zoom link which is generated at the time of booking, for which a passcode is required for entry and a waiting room engaged to prevent hacking.

My home office is a secure space, and I use headphones to ensure privacy.

Are services covered under OHIP? What about my private insurance plan?

Services are not covered under OHIP, however some private insurance plans may approve services for coverage under the Health Spending Account. I provide a proper invoicing and receipt trail to ensure legitimacy of billing and services, which often ensures services are approved and covered. Health Spending Accounts provide wonderful flexibility for services that are less traditional but incredibly beneficial to the individual. Moyer&Co. is a registered business in Ontario. Please contact your individual provider for more information.

Do you direct bill to insurance companies?

No, I do not. If you need assistance with submitting your services to your insurance provider, I will do my best to help by providing proper invoicing and receipts.

How do I get started with you? Do I need a referral?

To get started, simply book a session. You do not need a doctors referral for services, however if your insurance provider requires one for coverage under your Health Spending Account, you may need to seek one out.

Are there topics that are off limits?

Generally speaking, no. My counselling office is a safe space for you to explore your mental and emotional wellbeing.

That said, I do expect mutually respectful dialogue and should my boundaries be compromised, services will be terminated effective immediately. Racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, discrimination against marginalized groups, and extremist views or comments will not be tolerated.

Do you work with children?

I do! I have been working with children and adolescents (ages 10-18) for the past three years and absolutely love it.

How do you work with children and adolescents?

Much the same as I work with adults! Being a safe space for them to discuss their mental and emotional wellbeing, while taking accountability for themselves, pushing them to be co-creators in their care, and helping them develop healthy coping strategies is an honour!

We work on letter writing, nurturing their emotional health, empowerment, confidence and self-esteem while also tackling trauma and mental health concerns. Sessions are 30 minutes so as to not overwhelm or push too much too soon.

Sessions with children and adolescents are confidential, meaning that parents are only involved if there is a concern over illegal activity, self-harm or sexual assault of a minor. Should parents need to be involved in a session, the client will first need to consent to information being shared with their caregiver and then the parent or family will be invited into a counselling session for debriefing.

What can I expect at my appointments?

At your first appointment, we spend time getting to know one another and the floor is yours to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with about your story.

At subsequent appointments, we debrief how things have been going for you, work on coping skills, perspective, thought process, writing or art based activities to help with emotional exploration and sometimes, guided meditation.

Following your appointment, I will send you journal prompts and sheets, links for guided meditations, and resources to further your emotional development between sessions.

Within 24-48 hours following your appointment, I will reach out and see how you are doing. Appointments are designed to be intuitively led; meaning that no two are the same because no two clients are the same.

Are you a therapist? Are your services considered psychotherapy?

I am a Counsellor and Trauma Support Specialist, which means that I do not prescribe medications or treatment plans for any specific mental health issue or situation. I also do not diagnose mental health conditions or make conclusions about your mental health. Rather, we work on coping strategies together and draw on the healing elements of sound, art, writing, meditation, breath work and the transfer of knowledge from her continued education in mental health. I do not offer or claim to offer psychotherapy.

Should it become apparent that your needs extend my scope of practice as a counsellor, I will refer you to a Psychologist, Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

A notebook is always good to have on hand, however not necessary as journal sheets and art activities will be given or emailed to you following your appointment.

How long are sessions?

All adult appointments are 50-60 minutes in length.

All youth appointments are 30 minutes in length.

How many sessions should I expect?

Typically, I suggest making a commitment to your counselling sessions for a total of 6 sessions, staggered biweekly. This gives time between sessions for home practice, emotional processing, and follow-up.

When is payment due? What types of payment do you accept?

Virtual sessions are billed at the time of booking, via PayPal. Should you need alternate arrangements for payment, please reach out via email.

What is your cancellation policy?

Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give 48 hours notice.

Your payment will be honoured with appropriate notice of rescheduling.

No-shows will not be rescheduled as of December 1, 2022. You will have to book an additional appointment, at full cost.

I give a 10 minute grace period for all appointments. Should something happen and you’re going to be late, please text or DM me to let me know. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment will have to be rescheduled and a $25 late fee will apply.

Question not answered? That’s ok - I am an open book and happy to help!
